General Laboratory Tips

-
Certain pH meter electrodes, particularly Ag/AgCl reference electrodes, may not accurately measure the pH of Tris buffers. After adjusting the pH of a Tris solution, re‑measure it after 10 minutes. If the reading differs from the initial value, contact the pH meter manufacturer for guidance.
-
Probe‑type ultrasonic homogenizers can cause hearing damage; always wear ear protection (earmuffs or earplugs) during operation.
-
Before turning off a microscope light source, reduce the brightness to its lowest setting. If the light is switched off while at high brightness, the bulb may fail the next time power is supplied.
-
Water added to water baths or sterilizers must be at least distilled‑grade; tap water is strictly prohibited.
